Life is a Box of Music, or in short, LBM, is a blog where five friends have come together to post anything related to music. This includes topics like genres, favourite artists, music news, and even fun covers of popular songs like Kpop, Jpop, R&B etc.
The song is Numb, and it is by Linkin Park, my favourite artist! Just two weeks ago, on the 26th of June, Linkin Park released their latest album, Living Things. Do check it out!
Just some background about Linkin Park. Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in 1996, and the band has released five studio albums to date: Hybrid Theory (2000), Meteora (2003), Minutes to Midnight (2007), A Thousand Suns (2010), and Living Things (2012). The first few albums combine genres like Nu Metal, Alternative Metal and Alternative Rock. In later albums, especially from A Thousand Suns onward, their songs are more toward Electronic Rock. If you listen to all the albums in the order they were released, you would find that it is a gradual shift in music style from the first to the last album, and not an immediate one.
I would say the first two albums contain songs mainly targeted towards youths. The music is loud and extremely meaningful, relating to the common problems teenagers face in life. The latest three albums contain several softer, more gentle, songs. Besides containing the normal rock songs, the three albums also have several more political songs, with lyrics about the problems faced by a country and the world on the whole.
The band members and their main roles are Chester Bennington (Lead Vocals), Mike Shinoda (Vocals, Keyboard, Guitar), Brad Delson (Lead Guitar), Rob Bourdon (Drums), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (Bass Guitar), and Joseph Hahn (Turntables, Samples, Synthesizer). Some of Linkin Park's most famous singles are In The End, Numb, Breaking the Habit, What I've Done, Bleed It Out, New Divide and Iridescent. If you have never heard those songs before, now is great time to do so!(:
Hope you like the cover! Sorry for the somewhat poor audio and video quality though.
I would appreciate it if you could leave constructive feedback in the comments and perhaps a request for a song you would like me or everyone here in LifeIsABoxOfMusic to cover in the future!
